![]() How do you disable DRL's on 2002 chevy astro van? I have an 02 chevy astro. I put H.I.D headlights in. Now the DRL's are running constantly and not good on ballast. I bypassed the ambient light sensor on the dash. Now when it goes from park to drive lights come on. "please" answer this if you know what to do. By the way i cant find a fuse or relay labled DRL. Well, there must be a relay somewhere, because there's a fuse marked "Daytime Running Lamps Relay", #4 in your underdash fuse panel. But it's also marked as "Instrument Panel Cluster", which I assume would be for the actual gauge or warning light operations, as there's another fuse marked for "Cluster Illum" (#14) among other dash illumination circuits, as well as another fuse also marked "Instrument Panel Cluster" (#6). I am kind of wondering about the reason for all this trouble in the first place though. Not really sure exactly where or how you hooked up the HID's, but you may want to consider using the Upfitter AUX A or B feeds from the underhood fuse panel instead? Then you should be able to restore your DRL's to normal operation with no problems. |

My America - discrimination alive and well
Yes, I said it DISCRIMINATION.
I browse the web on a daily basis for updated news articles and videos on what’s happening in our world and more importantly, at least for me, our country. I am a white American in my early 30’s, the sole supported of my family of four, struggling for financial security. You won’t hear me whining about it, simply trying to come up with solutions to better my life and my families.
Growing up I would say that I must have been ignorant to the world I live in, not seeing all the discrimination that the media is portraying in American today. I saw all sorts of people, of all different races, in all varieties of positions, all the way to the top of major corporations. I learned very quickly that racial discrimination was alive and well in the US and that the United States Government was part of the problem.
In 2001 I was living on my own and decided to move on to a major university to complete my education. I thought since I was living on my own make a whopping $8 an hour, all I would have to do is apply and they would throw money my way. Whoops! My mistake. Filling out the forms I ran in to a brick wall. The good old faithful question, “What is your race”. I checked the box causation not knowing that I sealed my fate and my financial freedom.
There was no money for me, because I “Made to much money“. Who new that $9 an hour was so much money that I could afford $27K in student loans. I know their are countless individuals who have incurred even more debt that myself, but you can see the picture. I still followed through with my plans and signed away the next 20+ years of my life to making payments on this opportunity that I was given and chose to burden myself with.
Soon after I attended classes, achieving decent grades for someone taking 17 credit hours, working full time. I made good use out f my 1 room efficiency apartment above my parents office. I know, you probably thought that I was living in some fancy condo with all the loot I was bringing in. On a daily basis I drove my self to school in my Ferari - I mean my 94 Chevy Astro Van, just for the opportunity to listen to those around me tell the glorious stoory of how they came to this country for a free education, or even tough they worked at John Deere, being a single mom with as little as one child, the government miraculously found the funds. I finally understood racism in My America.
To my surprise the discrimination was against myself. A young, white or Caucasian American. I was hit hard with this reality when I tried to start a not for profit company with a friend of mine to help kids learn computers and skills such as computer repair, website development, and business. I contacted every state and federal agency out there and finally got someone on the phone to tell me the truth. A gentleman from the great corrupt state of Illinois told me that there would be no funds for someone like me, but he was kind enough to run through the checklist for the fun of it. I will never forget that for the rest of my life. He asked me what race I was, which I answered white. He told me that my funding options went from who knows what down to 50%. Then he had one more simple follow up question. What gender are you. I ansered male. In return he told me that there would be next to none available. He went on to tell me that he would deny ever telling me that if questioned but understood how it made me feel.
From that day one my outlook on life changed and more of what went on around me was apparent. Shows such as BET, organizations such as the NAACP, The United Negro College Fund, Black History Month, Hispanic heritage Month, and Ebony Magazine. There are many more but you get the gist of it. I was surprised to see how many all Black colleges there are.
I know from reading this you might say that I am a racist which I can assure you that I am not. I could say that some of my good friends are Blacks and Hispanics. I’ve had friends from Brazil, India, and even Guiana. I know, now some of you are thinking because I’m saying that I’m not racist than I must be. For those of you that do, think what you want. One thing that you can count on, at least for now, is that we live in a free country.
