Top Moldings

major help needed with how to attach a molding to a weirdly angled wall? the moldings are the foam type that don't go on flatly, i hope you know which ones i mean, you don't put them flat on the wall but at an angle and you glue the top part to the ceiling and the bottom to the wall. there is this one corner of our wall that does not have a 90 degree angle so getting some molding to go around there is very difficult. i estimate that the angle between the two walls is about 160 degrees, but regardless how would one go about getting the molding to go around that corner nicely??? this is a diagram of the wall to give a better description. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=211u6c&s=5 the black and red lines are the walls, and you can see the corner they make is larger then 90 degrees, the brown thing is sort of the shape of the molding. you are talking about "crown molding" and any corner not extremely close to 90 deg. becomes difficult to cut - the saws are not set up for it . take for ex. a 45 deg wall, the settings turn out to be 15 deg. miter and 17 deg. bevel. You can "freehand" it,that is dangerous depending on your skill level ,hell what am I saying, I've been doing crown for 35+ yrs and am not comfortable with that. Or you could put up a corner block and have the crown die into that with just a square cut. try making a jig that would effectively double your 90deg. settings- a wedge shaped piece that would hold your work piece out from the saws' fence. On odd angles like that that's what you have to do - just keep trying until you get it. and if you expect to run into that angle again write down your angle settings or save your jig good luck. edit: How will a sliding t-bevel help you get the correct miter? It will only give you a representation of the total angle not the miter angle let alone the bevel angle. come to think of it is this an inside corner or outside. Inside should be coped, (much more forgiving) to allow for errors in profile cuts
